Another Wednesday morning. I’ve already been supervising fleets for twenty years now and in just a couple of months I should be able to retire. In this morning’s meeting they advised everyone the fact that the NTSB has suggested a ban on cell phone use when driving. “Geez, I wonder just how many of our tax dollars that cost for them to finally put together that brilliant deduction!” This approach had long been our long-term policy but still, I reiterated the concept with our truck drivers as I’d oftentimes done.

This’ll give you sleepless nights . Just imagine. Your drivers are following their usual delivery routes and your trucks are all out. As usual, everything’s going smoothly. You’re in your office rocking gently in your chair and you start the after-I-retire daydream when you get the call. Joe, one of your drivers calls you to say he’s had an accident. Thankfully everyone’s okay, but the truck is out of commission. A disabled vehicle means undelivered cargo. Another truck will take hours. What a nightmare.
