Motor vehicle stories
Oliver Evans developed a high-pressure steam engine at around the same time as Richard Trevithick of the United Kingdom. He was granted a steam-wagon patent in 1787, but it took him 18 years to make his first self-moving steam conveyance. Evan’s steam-powered machine was the accidental by-product of necessity when he was commissioned to make a steam dredging machine. To get it to the river from his workshop – a distance of some 1.5 miles – he attached stout-wheeled undercarriage and jury-rigged a belt and pulley system to transfer the power to the wheels. He’d inadvertently created a rudimentary on-road vehicle.
The Fastest Men on Earth
While the history of the car goes back to the 18th century, it took more than a hundred years later for drivers and engineers alike to seriously start pushing the speed barrier. On the 18th of December 1898, Count Gaston de Chasseloup-Laubat of France became the first driver to establish a land speed record, when he was timed by an autocar magazine to complete a kilometer run in an electric car. He took 57 seconds, an average speed of 39 miles per hour. His accomplishment also disproved the popular notion at his time that a human being will likely to suffocate from travelling at such high speed.

These immoral crooks will either smash their way into the vehicle to make a grab for the goodies they can spot through the windows, or take off with the car in attempt to sale it as a whole or in pieces. Motor Racing In Japan

Electric Cars: Are They Good For Your Family?
Trends in transportation occur periodically. At the dawn of the 20th Century, one was more likely to find a vehicle driven by battery juice not petrol. But the subsequent years were marked by a proliferation of the oil industry, as well as significant improvements to the design of the internal combustion engine. Not long after, petrol began dominating the electric and steam vehicles that were so prevalent. Even the brief oil price shock in the 1970s couldn’t revive the popularity of oil-free vehicles – it just created a demand in the USA for Japanese cars with economic small engines, rather than big cubic inch muscle cars. By the end of the 20th century, attempts by car manufacturers to mass-produce new models of electric cars all ended in failure. But now we are witnessing a new paradigm shift.
