Diamond Free, Titan, GT750, X-6 Hustler, RG500, XN85, and GSX-R. Familiar with them? Probably yes since they belong to one of the top names in the motorcycle industry – Suzuki. These Suzuki motorcycles are not just robust and stylish but they are also packed with excellent features.
But do you know that Suzuki got into silk industry first before it got into the motorcycle and car industry? Yes, that’s true. In 1909, Michio Suzuki started a small warehouse that was geared towards the progress of Japan’s silk industry. Thirty years later, the company decided to diversify into cars and motorcycles. They were into silk for 10 years more. But when the cotton market collapsed in 1951, Suzuki was prompted to seriously focus on the motorcycle and car industry.
The first motorcycle that the company produced was called Power Free. It was designed ingeniously, catching the eye not just by the people but also the Japanese government. The company was even given a subsidy just to go on with its research regarding motorcycle innovation. And that finally marked the production of great bikes from Suzuki, which won shortly in series of World Motocross Championships.
From these great bikes, the X-6 Hustler was the very first to conquer the street-legal performance scene. It was known for its great speed, thus it was regarded as Suzuki’s fastest 250cc bike in the 60s. This, together with other fast motorcycles from Suzuki, made the company well-known in the motocross scene.
If the X6-Hustler was the Suzuki motorcycle of the 60s, in the 80s, it was the GSX-R750. During this decade, the company became popular in the racing field. And since the GSX-R750 was made from aluminum frame, it became one of the most reliable racing motorcycles.
Through the years, Suzuki proved that Suzuki motorcycles are one of the best. Indeed, they are because even today, Suzuki is still among the top 4 motorcycle manufacturers worldwide.
