Nathan Williams is the author of the wildly-popular Crushing the Microstakes, the definitive guide to the lowest stakes in online poker. Williams is dropping the sequel soon so head over to his site for the latest news on that release. Average-sized stacks all around. Always confused by this spot and the choice between trying to build a pot or letting opponents catch up on the flop. You should always raise here pre-flop. This is especially the case when playing against passive players. You have to do it for them.
Furthermore, you should always raise pre-flop when entering the pot in literally any situation be it 4-handed, 9-handed or heads up. Having the betting lead is one of the fundamental keys to winning at poker because it simply gives you more ways to win the pot.
You can either take it down by forcing the other player to fold or showdown the best hand. Preflop callers only have one way to win the hand - show down the best hand.
Is it standard to open-limp with pocket aces when you are three or four-handed? No, it is very standard to raise with them. I actually suggest almost never limping at all in poker no matter the situation. You should just play whichever one is more fun for you. Always remember that this is just a game at the end of the day and what will keep you motivated and excited to play each time is having fun. I personally use Pokertracker 4. I think it is the best product on the market right now.
Welcome back to 5 th part of the History of Spanish Poker Tour. This is the season that has just finished in Barcelona. Juan Dominguez was the one to win this one he also finished 2 nd to Thomas Dunwoodie in the same event last year in Pokerstars Marbella Festival. Then, it was time for the Main Event that again was significantly bigger than the event last year.
Overall, players shared the prizepool. The final table was led by Spanish players but there was also an international presence. There were five international players at the final table: It was an exciting final table with a deal that was agreed upon three handed.
Maybe not, but for the first time an ESPT event has shrunk in a year. Nevertheless, it was still an amazing poker festival. An impressive run, right? Final table was a diverse one, to say the least. Others, like Fabio Sperling, Jordi Alfonso and Jose Martinez were experienced players with final table finishes under their belts.
And as you would expect, experience prevailed. Two most experienced Fabio Sperling and Jordi Alfonso reached heads-up stage with the German player finishing on top. All in all, it was another fantastic poker festival from Pokerstars. But the fact that is shrank will probably require some amendments in strategy and planning, though.
ESPT Valencia was not the only event that saw a reduction in player pool. However, a tiny one. The festival ran June , The actual attendance decrease was pretty minor.
