In 1916, the Bavarian Motor Works opened a plant in Germany. Now they make motorcycles and the Rolls-Royce in addition to a fantastic looking BMW SUVs. At one time they produced aircraft engines.

The motorcycle was built in the United States; 105,172 of them in 2006. Again a large number were built in 2008; 170,741 to be exact. There were the popular BMW X5 and X6 models. There are manufacturing plants, in the US, Germany and three other countries.

The popularity of these vehicles in the greater Los Angeles area is evidence of high quality, good looks and longevity. They are famous for their ability to hold the road. Their admirable looks and good reputation makes them desirable as a new car purchase and also a reliable used car.

All the people who can afford them, including movie actors and their agents want BMW Los Angeles. All the new car dealers do a good business. They are sought after at used car lots and mechanics skilled in repairing them are in demand.

The richest people buy the Rolls-Royce and the new SUVs. Many have a motorcycle as well. All the folks in California seem to favor this car.

Now they have been manufacturing luxury SUVs too. These are more of a status symbol than an off-road vehicle. People favor them for the way they handle the road as much as for the way they look.

With a low-riding chassis that is more like a car than an SUV, it has a unique look. The X5 became a best seller almost immediately. They are made in Spartanburg, South Carolina, in the American South.

One less than perfect feature is limited space inside the vehicle. It only seats five people. That was the X5. Now, when the 2007 model was designed, that was corrected. It now has more cargo space and room for seven passengers.

The BMW X5 now is manufactured in three types. There is an X 5 x Drive 30i model, the turbodiesel x Drive 35d and the X5 x Drive 48i. This offers customers three different models and three different engines to choose from.

They have all-wheel drive that comes standard. The third-row seat is optional. For a family SUV this is a sporty looking vehicle. No other car makers can complete on an equal level with this superior quality SUV.

The passengers can ride in comfort and the driver can enjoy the easy-driving car. The material on the interior is of a good quality. The third passenger seat in the back is small and suited more to a child than a full grown adult.

Here we are in 2010. The Bavarian Motor Works has been in business for ninety-four years. With manufacturing factories in not only Los Angeles BMW, but also North Carolina, the UK and other countries, they are still going strong. BMW Los Angeles Automobile dealers and used car dealers will continue to make a good living selling these cars. It may go on for another hundred years.
